B90, Day 88: I should be finished
>> Thursday, September 30, 2010
But I'm not. I'm disappointed. I admit it. I'm reading as much as I can to get finished before Monday, the final tweet up. I know I can do it. I know I can. Back to reading!!
But I'm not. I'm disappointed. I admit it. I'm reading as much as I can to get finished before Monday, the final tweet up. I know I can do it. I know I can. Back to reading!!
My postcard to Brazil arrived safely and the recipient asked for my address so she could send me a post card too! :) I think that is very sweet and I sent her my address.
My new postcard is now on its way to Latvia!! :) I love getting a new country that I haven't sent to before! :)
The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Tough, by Neta Jackson
Challenges: 100+ Books, Support Your Library
Another great Yada Yada book. Tough to review as it took me a shocking 6 weeks to read. That's what happens when life and Bible reading take priority!!!! :P
There is a significant development to the character of Becky Wallace and her relationship with all the Yada Yada's. And the characters of Nony and Mark play a HUGE role in this book. It is a book about holding strong to faith under fire.
Lucky 13. I know A LOT of people say 13 is an unlucky number. But for me, 13 has always been good. And I'm PRAYING HARD that this week is lucky for me. Because I am BEHIND. And not just a little.
But, I'm not going to worry, I'm just going to read, read read.
If you check my blog you're probably REALLY worried about how far behind I am. Please don't believe it!!!! I am not quite THAT far behind. I am just choosing to not put up my blogs at this time, so I can spend MORE time reading than blogging. I have put up the weekly updates only, obviously.
Anyway... I would LOVE to finish by Thursday, the 88 day mark, where I would finish if I took NO grace days, but I REALLY doubt that will happen.
Saturday is the official 90th day, and I have hope I can finish by then. But I'll still be happy if I can just finish up by Monday!! :D
Please pray for me, I have a LOT of reading to do!!
Scripture: Hebrews 13:6
6So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
Well, I've had some business lately with postcards I haven't been able to blog lately!
2 of my postcards traveling expired, :( So somewhere out there are postcards to Japan and China, that may be with their owners and not be registered, or may have not been recieved, but they have been traveling for over 60 days.
I got a postcard from Egypt. How awesome is that.
And I think since posting last, another post card to the Netherlands made it's way to it's new home! :D
I am sending out 3 new cards today, to:
-Germany
-United Kingdom
-Netherlands (again)
Happy Postcrossing!!!

Yeah, I'm behind again, but I'm going to catch up this week!
Life was INSANE this week. BFF's DH was out of town, I worked a ton, and BFF broke her foot Tuesday night!!! :( So it's been pretty nuts. I've already caught up a couple days worth. I will keep working at it and I'm sure I'll be caught up soon. :)

I am so amazed to be in week eleven. And to be so close to caught up once again... (yes, a day and a half behind, yet again! LOL)
I have amazing news to share, but I am saving it for the tweet up. After I have told the gals in tweet up I will post it in my blog and will add a link into here.
This has been so eye opening for me. It has opened my heart, mind, and soul to God, and helped me realize where to focus myself.
I am so excited. :D Thank you Amy @ Mom's Toolbox for making ALL of this possible!!!
Scripture: Mark 4:16-17
16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
My second postcard to Belarus has made it's way to it's destination!! :D Hooray!! Now I will be sending a postcard to...
The Netherlands

I received this adorable postcard this morning from the Netherlands! Thank you!! The words mean Much Love in Dutch. :) The writer gave me their website, and I will be going to it after work today! :) Another HAPPY MAILBOX DAY!
Scripture: Micah 2:12
12 "I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob;
I will surely bring together the remnant of Israel.
I will bring them together like sheep in a pen,
like a flock in its pasture;
the place will throng with people.
So since I have actually read farther in the Bible in 90 Days program than before, I wanted to do a post about the Bible I was considering buying to read next. And it got me thinking about my other Bibles. And I decided to do a post in honor of my Bibles. :) And I have several!! LOL So here we go!!
This was my very first Bible ever given to me, by my parents. I was eight years, and it was Easter. I took Communion for the first time that year. :) This Bible was my primary companion, Bible-wise, for several years.
My next Bible, which I do NOT have a picture of, was a devotional Bible given to me on my 16th Birthday. I used it a little, but it wasn't the Bible I needed at that time.
Shortly after I was given that Bible a friend gave me a Student Bible in NIV. I found it SO much easier to read and understand, so for the next couple of years it was my primary Bible. And it would be until I drifted away again.
For my high school graduation I received this little Bible. Although I didn't use it much at time, it would serve me well nearly ten years later when i went to Basic Training and could only have a Bible with me. I didn't want to bring my first Bible, which was already showing signs of significant wear. My other two Bibles were larger, and my recruiter had said to be sure it was SMALL. So, this was the Bible I brought. It was comforting to have God's Word near me during such a challenging time.
When my now ex-husband and I married, we received a large Family Bible, a traditional gift from a certain family member. I was excited to have it to carry on the tradition, even though I was in such a state of uncertainty spiritually. When my ex-husband and I separated, he told me to keep it, as he knew it meant more to me, and would mean more to the girls. :)
For many years between high school and the military, I didn't even bother. My spiritual life was dead basically. I wandered a little but really just didn't try. When I went in the military I finally started coming back, it took me a while. And when my heart and soul finally found it's way home, in the midst of my world shattering, I bought a new Bible.
I wanted the readability of NIV, and something that felt nice in my hand. I wanted something pretty, because right then, nothing in my life felt pretty. One of my best friends had just died, and I knew my marriage was in bad shape. In the middle of ALL of that, and the girls "terrible two's" I found God again. And this time for good. This Bible has been used pretty heavily in the last year or two. I have used it for reading the Bible in 90 Days, TWICE. (even though I didn't finish the first time). It has traveled from Massachusetts where it was purchased, to Oregon for a funeral, to Kentucky/Tennessee where I lived at the time, and back and forth between TN and MA several times, before I finally moved permanently to MA. I have read it and marked it, and loved it. It has gone camping with me, it has gone to church with me, it has gone to work with me. I know this Bible with wear out one day, but that is okay. :)
Last October, I told BFF that I wanted a study Bible. As much as I LOVE my nice NIV, I wanted a Bible with more notes in it, or a Parallel Bible. I liked the idea of being able to compare versions more easily. BFF bought me one, and was planning to give it to me for Christmas. Except God had other plans :D I was baptized on November 21, 2009. She decided to give me that Bible for my baptism instead.
This parallel Bible is WONDERFUL. It has KJV, NKJV, NIV, and New Living Translation. There is just some times when I really need to see the differences. I love this Bible. There is just one minor problem with it. It's kinda big and heavy!! :) It's hard to carry around and it's REALLY HARD to find a Bible cover to fit it. SO...
In my continuing search for a good study Bible...
Not two months after BFF got my parallel Bible for me (and one for her too), a publishing house associated with the SDA Church released what is called The Remnant Study Bible. I fell in love with it, so did BFF. But we both felt a little bad having JUST gotten the new Bibles. BFF's DH and I though, we KNEW how bad BFF wanted it. So we were sneaky and got together. We split the cost and bought her her's for her Birthday. Except that our church then announced a Bible Marking Seminar, for a month BEFORE her birthday. And they recommended a new Bible, since we'd be doing so much marking in it. What a quandry right? Well, wrong. We decided the best way to keep this a true surprise was to just give it to her as soon as it arrived! LOL And we did. But since I was ordering hers, I went ahead and ordered my own to!!
The day both Bibles arrived, I rushed them upstairs to be sure the imprinting was correct, then I put them in HER OWN CLOSET on the floor! LOL She certainly wasn't going to go SNOOPING there! And that evening her DH and I snuck away and wrapped it in Christmas paper (best we could do on short notice), and handed it to her. She was DEFINITELY surprised, and pleased. Mine is the one in the picture. Her's is burgundy and black. I haven't used mine a TON yet, because I am doing Bible in 90 Days, and use an NIV for that. This Bible is NKJV. When I am done with NKJV, I intend to switch and make this my primary Bible, I think. :)
Now then... what Bible do I want next?? Well... I have been considering doing the reading in chronological order. I think it would be a very interesting way to read after having read cover to cover in order. I know there are plans out there to read your OWN Bible in Chronological order, but I LOVE the faster pace of 90 Days. So I think I'd like to get an actual Chronological Bible so I could read it faster. I really like the size and portability of this one which is an NIV translation. This one is NKJV, and it a little pricier, but is full color and seems pretty amazing. I have some thinking to do. :)
I hope you have enjoyed this journey through my Bibles, and a little bit of my life. :)
Just dropping a blog note here, i am behind on posting my BLOGS about my reading, but NOT behind on my reading!!! :D
I have Days 63, 64, and 65 to blog, and am HOPING to have a chance to do that tonight. :)
Off to work I go!!
Scripture: Amos 2:4
4 This is what the LORD says:
"For three sins of Judah,
even for four, I will not turn back {my wrath}.
Because they have rejected the law of the LORD
and have not kept his decrees,
because they have been led astray by false gods,
the gods their ancestors followed,
Wow! I am actually about to embark on reading Day 64, and on Day 64. On track!! God has been so good to me!! I am about to delve into new territory today. And I am so excited. And on Friday, the 10th, I will begin another exciting new part, The New Testament.
Scripture: Hosea 6:6
6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
Wow, It's week TEN!!
And I am excited to report: I AM ON TRACK!!!
I finished up Day 63 last night. Daniel and the prophesies of Daniel are some of my most favorite parts of the Bible, so for me, this is an exciting section to read.
In the Check in post on Mom's Toolbox Amy asked what our secret to success was if we are on track. For me, FLAT OUT DETERMINATION.
I failed last time, in the January session. I made it to Day 63, two and a half months after everyone else was done. My Day 63 Post from last session was made on June 9th. And that would end up being the last day I read. I had to make a decision at that point to attempt to FINISH the Bible in less than a month only to turn around and read it in 90 Days, as I had already committed myself, mind, heart, and soul, to doing this in July. Or to do something very difficult, but to STOP reading to the end, and basically take a break mentally so I was prepared FULLY for the July session of Bible in 90 Days.
So for me, the reason I am succeeding this time, in many respects, is just determination to not repeat my own history of failure. I WANT to read the Bible. I want to learn and study God's Word. And I want to finish by the deadline set before me and set in my heart. Yes, I have fallen behind at times, early on I fell as much as 10 days behind and became VERY frustrated with myself. But I just forced myself to catch up a little at a time until I was back with the group.
I also believe attending the tweet ups, and thereby having extra accountability has helped me TREMENDOUSLY. I didn't do the tweet ups last time. I didn't understand how to, but this time I figured it out. And it DOES help me.
So, after being VERY long winded... LOL
I have not yet posted my blog for Day 63, I finished reading pretty late, and it will be a bit longer than most as I have such passion for Daniel. So maybe tonight I will be able to get it up. :)
And today will be a momentous occasion for me. When I complete Day 64, I will have read farther than last time!!! :)
Thank you everyone who has prayed for me, and encouraged me!
Last time I did B90, this was the last day I completed. And it was 2+ months after everyone else had finished. I am on track this time!! And with Day 64's reading tomorrow, will surpass last time's end point for me! Hooray!
Daniel is an amazing book of prophecy. Last fall my church did an awesome evangelistic series that largely revolved around the prophecy of Daniel and Revelation. So I really enjoy reading Daniel and you will find any Bible I use much heavily marked and lots of margin notes in Daniel! Onto my wild ride through the start of Daniel.
What is prophesied in King Nebuchandnezzar's dream in Daniel 2:31-33 and 2:37-43 in fact, historically came to pass.
31 "You looked, O king, and there before you stood a large statue—an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance. 32 The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, 33 its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay.
37 You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; 38 in your hands he has placed mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
39 "After you, another kingdom will rise, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth. 40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.
The statue of nations:
The head of gold = Babylon
Chest and arms of Silver = Media-Persia
Belly and thighs of bronze = Greece
Legs of Iron = Rome
Feet of Iron and Clay = the countries that would come out of Rome
Oh, there is so VERY much more, but I am content to leave this blog at this!!! :D
Scripture: Ezekiel 39:28-29
28 Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. 29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD."
Scripture: Ezekiel 28:11-19
11 The word of the LORD came to me: 12 "Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says:
" 'You were the model of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
ruby, topaz and emerald,
chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
sapphire, turquoise and beryl.
Your settings and mountings were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.
14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.
15 You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.
16 Through your widespread trade
you were filled with violence,
and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, O guardian cherub,
from among the fiery stones.
17 Your heart became proud
on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
I made a spectacle of you before kings.
18 By your many sins and dishonest trade
you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
So I made a fire come out from you,
and it consumed you,
and I reduced you to ashes on the ground
in the sight of all who were watching.
19 All the nations who knew you
are appalled at you;
you have come to a horrible end
and will be no more.' "
I know that it states it is for the "King of Tyre." But what I see is not the fall of an Earthly King, but the fall of Satan. Lucifer may have come to Earth and manifested himself as an Earthly King, thereby causing this lament to be for someone on Earth, but the words, make it clear.
v. 13: You were in Eden. I doubt the King of Tyre was there, but Lucifer was.
v. 14: You were anointed as a guardian cherub. No Earthly King would be a cherub, but Lucifer was.
v. 15: this just screams Lucifer to me, you were blameless til wickedness found you.
v. 16: I expelled you, O guardian cherub: again, the "king" hasn't been expelled yet, but Lucifer was expelled from Heaven.
v. 17: So I threw you to the earth: VERY much what happened to Lucifer.
How interesting that it should be entitled a lament to an earthly king. Wouldn't God have been willing to call it a Lament to Lucifer? Or did He know that outing him was a mistake?
It's interesting, I did NOT catch this when I read Ezekiel last time. But it stood out to me as being VERY odd this time, til I finally had to ask my BFF who is much more Bible knowledgeable than I am. She helped me to do some research to find my answers. Very very interesting material!
Scripture: Ezekiel 14:16
16 as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, even if these three men were in it, they could not save their own sons or daughters. They alone would be saved, but the land would be desolate.
I received a wonderfully beautiful postcard from China today! :) I took a picture of this one! :)
Isn't it pretty? It's more vivid in person, I took the picture of it with my phone. :)
I am eagerly awaiting another happy mailbox day!
Scripture: Ezekiel 4:14-15
14 Then I said, "Not so, Sovereign LORD! I have never defiled myself. From my youth until now I have never eaten anything found dead or torn by wild animals. No unclean meat has ever entered my mouth."
15 "Very well," he said, "I will let you bake your bread over cow manure instead of human excrement."
By my best estimate, I only managed to read FOUR books in August. :( This was definitely NOT my goal AT ALL. I was shooting for a significantly higher number. I got bogged down with a LOT of life! I guess life is good too though! :)
My Bible reading is going well, So hopefully, in the early part of October, I can officially list the Bible (book number 2) as completed! I believe I've accidentally been counting it for months anyway! It will officially count as a chunkster as well, since THIS time I didn't start it until after January 31st! LOL
Since I didn't read much this month I am choosing to skip my usual long percentages post this month, hopefully October will see the re-emergence of that post. And starting in October, I will begin looking for new challenges to complete. I am not sure I will be getting through ALL my list for this year, so I am hoping some of the challenges will be repeating themselves next year! :)
