Scripture: Zechariah 8:16-17
16 These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; 17 do not plot evil against your neighbor, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this," declares the LORD.
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 10:13-14
13 Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance, 14 and did not inquire of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 12:4
You must not worship the Lord your God in their way.
Observation: God does not want to be worshipped the way other people worship their gods.
Application: God gave the Israelites, and us, clear rus on what to do, and not to do. We need to obey them.
Prayer: Lord, help me to obey your rules and worship you in a manner that pleases you.
Scripture: Numbers 27:12-14
12 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go up this mountain in the Abarim range and see the land I have given the Israelites. 13 After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, 14 for when the community rebelled at the waters in the Desert of Zin, both of you disobeyed my command to honor me as holy before their eyes." (These were the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.)
Observation: Moses is being shown the promised land but denied entrance due to his disobedience of the Lord.
Application: God knows and he does keep record. Thankfully Jesus died for our sins. But we still need to obey God.
Prayer: Father, help me to learn to obey you. I want to obey you.
Scripture: Leviticus 5:17
"If a person sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord's commands, even though he does not know it, he is guilty and will be held responsible."
Observation: God is holding His people to a strict standard of responsibility for their actions and behaviors.
Application: I must remember that I am a child of God and He is hold me to a high standard. My actions and behaviors need to emulate those things that God expects.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know I don't always live up to your expectations. Please help guide me toward those actions and behaviors that are a good reflection of you.
