B90, Day 81: Run to get the prize

>> Thursday, September 23, 2010

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:24-25

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

B90, Day 63: Amazing Prophesies

>> Sunday, September 5, 2010

Last time I did B90, this was the last day I completed. And it was 2+ months after everyone else had finished. I am on track this time!! And with Day 64's reading tomorrow, will surpass last time's end point for me! Hooray!

Daniel is an amazing book of prophecy. Last fall my church did an awesome evangelistic series that largely revolved around the prophecy of Daniel and Revelation. So I really enjoy reading Daniel and you will find any Bible I use much heavily marked and lots of margin notes in Daniel! Onto my wild ride through the start of Daniel.

What is prophesied in King Nebuchandnezzar's dream in Daniel 2:31-33 and 2:37-43 in fact, historically came to pass.

31 "You looked, O king, and there before you stood a large statue—an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance. 32 The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, 33 its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay.

37 You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; 38 in your hands he has placed mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.

39 "After you, another kingdom will rise, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth. 40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.

The statue of nations:
The head of gold = Babylon
Chest and arms of Silver = Media-Persia
Belly and thighs of bronze = Greece
Legs of Iron = Rome
Feet of Iron and Clay = the countries that would come out of Rome

Oh, there is so VERY much more, but I am content to leave this blog at this!!! :D

B90, Day 62: God will bring Israel out of exile and show his glory through them

>> Saturday, September 4, 2010

Scripture: Ezekiel 39:28-29

28 Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. 29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD."

B90, Day 61: Fall of Satan

>> Friday, September 3, 2010

Scripture: Ezekiel 28:11-19

11 The word of the LORD came to me: 12 "Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says:
" 'You were the model of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

13 You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
ruby, topaz and emerald,
chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
sapphire, turquoise and beryl.
Your settings and mountings were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.

14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.

15 You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.

16 Through your widespread trade
you were filled with violence,
and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, O guardian cherub,
from among the fiery stones.

17 Your heart became proud
on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
I made a spectacle of you before kings.

18 By your many sins and dishonest trade
you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
So I made a fire come out from you,
and it consumed you,
and I reduced you to ashes on the ground
in the sight of all who were watching.

19 All the nations who knew you
are appalled at you;
you have come to a horrible end
and will be no more.' "

I know that it states it is for the "King of Tyre." But what I see is not the fall of an Earthly King, but the fall of Satan. Lucifer may have come to Earth and manifested himself as an Earthly King, thereby causing this lament to be for someone on Earth, but the words, make it clear.

v. 13: You were in Eden. I doubt the King of Tyre was there, but Lucifer was.
v. 14: You were anointed as a guardian cherub. No Earthly King would be a cherub, but Lucifer was.
v. 15: this just screams Lucifer to me, you were blameless til wickedness found you.
v. 16: I expelled you, O guardian cherub: again, the "king" hasn't been expelled yet, but Lucifer was expelled from Heaven.
v. 17: So I threw you to the earth: VERY much what happened to Lucifer.

How interesting that it should be entitled a lament to an earthly king. Wouldn't God have been willing to call it a Lament to Lucifer? Or did He know that outing him was a mistake?

It's interesting, I did NOT catch this when I read Ezekiel last time. But it stood out to me as being VERY odd this time, til I finally had to ask my BFF who is much more Bible knowledgeable than I am. She helped me to do some research to find my answers. Very very interesting material!

hard as a mirror of cast bronze?
